Tools and Resources for GSAs

The Colorado GSA Network has developed four resources for GSAs across the state.

Guidance for Educators Working with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Students
This resource, released March 2013, provides practical guidance and resources to school districts, educators, and school communities working with and meeting the needs of transgender students. This guide includes topics of gender-segregated facilities, working with families, and how to support transgender students in schools. Make it Safe: A Resource Guide for Students Combating Bullying, Homophobia, and Transphobia in Schools

This guide serves as a resource for LGBTQ and allied students committed to combating bullying and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment in Colorado schools. This guide includes information on laws and policies that protects students, and it outlines activities that Gay-Straight Alliances can participate in to make their schools safer. Get it Started: A Guide for Developing Gay-Straight Alliances

This guide serves as a resource for Gay-Straight Alliances and other student groups and organizations working to end bullying, homophobia, and transphobia in schools. It seeks to provide information and guidance on creating organizational and leadership structures for new and existing student clubs, developing effective coalition, hosting successful events, and planning for sustainable Gay-Straight Alliances. Build It Up: A Guide for Creating Effective GSA Programming

This guide includes ideas for events and activities that your Gay-Straight Alliance can implement. Whether your group provides educational, social/support, or activism opportunities, or a combination of the three, this guide provides useful programming tools for your GSA. The sections include discussion/educational components, team-building activities, book & film ideas, online resources, and event ideas to support your group’s work to raise awareness about LGBTQ issues and create schools where students are out, safe and respected.
